The Day After

Thanksgiving that is.  Bill, Sassy and I went to my mother and brother's home.  My mom is not a really big cook.  Of course she is 85 years old and not too steady on her feet.  I brought dressing and a pie neither of which were gluten free but that's OK.  I managed to get enough to eat anyway.  We spent two or three hours there.  It was a pleasant time.  My mom didn't gripe about my dad once the whole time.  Probably because we were watching a movie.  My dad's been dead for over 20 years but she still complains about him.

We spent several hours the other evening with Bill's mom in the ER.  This is the 3rd time in the last month and a half.  About every other week we have to take her in or meet her there.  The first time she had a bleeding ucler and they fixed that.  Otherwise she is in good health.  We're getting the impression that she is just looking for attention.  I'm pretty sure that the people in the hospital are getting that impression too.  Now that Bill's dad is in the nursing home she is pretty much alone.  Her grandson and his friend (boyfriend) are living with her but they aren't there very often.  We visit her as much as we can but apparently it's not enough.  By the end of December she is going to move in with Bill's sister, Terri in Comanche.  It will be a lot better for her.  She will be near her grandkids and great-grandkids.  We hope to get her house here in Lawton sold and then she can move into an apartment of her own.  Her house is going to be difficult to sell because it's in bad shape.  It would take several thousand dollars to fix it up and it's not worth it.  We were advised to put it up for auction and sell it for whatever we can get.  She's not happy with that idea but I think she's pretty much resigned to it.

We put up our Christmas tree the day before yesterday.  It looks really nice.

Yesterday after we left my mom's house we went out to the Refuge and took some really good fall pictures.  Late in the day is a better time for picture taking.

So the photo of the day will be one of my newest fall pictures.
