We've had at least one funeral a week for the last several weeks. Most of them have been people who have been ill for a long time. Today we had a funeral for a young man who was only 32 years old. He lost his battle with cancer. He's had it for several years and the other day the Lord called him home. He had a wife and 2 little boys. He was a firefighter and all the firefighters of our city were at the funeral. Firefighters came in from other cities to fill in for them at the fire stations so that they could all come. It was the biggest funeral that I have seen in a long time. Several fire trucks accompanied the family to the cemetery. There is another funeral tomorrow but it is at the funeral home. One of the secretaries' father passed away on Sunday. And to top it off the husband of one of our church members died this morning. I have no idea when that funeral will be, probably on Thursday.
We are closed on Thursday and Friday in honor of Veteran's Day. Hopefully if there is a funeral on Thursday it will be at the funeral home. If not then we will just have to come in and work. If we don't have to work then maybe we will take a little road trip. I would like to get some fall photos.
Photo of the day, a view of Oklahoma City looking across Lake Hefner.
But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2 Peter 3:8
